Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi coast is the stretch of the Campania coast, located south of the Sorrento peninsula, overlooking the Gulf of Salerno; it is bordered to the west by Positano and to the east by Vietri sul Mare. It is a stretch of coast famous throughout the world for its natural beauty, home to important tourist settlements. Considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it takes its name from the town of Amalfi, the central nucleus of the Amalfi Coast not only geographically, but also historically.

Its natural beauties and its picturesque landscapes have made it, especially since the second post-war period, one of the favorite destinations of the world jet set, reason that earned it the nickname "Divine Coast". Among the many celebrities that over the years have chosen the Amalfi Coast as a beloved holiday oasis, they can be mentioned: the first lady Jacqueline Kennedy, the king Vittorio Emanuele III of Savoy, the entrepreneur Gianni Agnelli, the actresses Grace Kelly, Greta Garbo and Sophia Loren, actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, dancer Rudolf Nureyev, basketball player LeBron James. The Amalfi coast is also known for some typical products, such as limoncello, a liqueur made from local lemons (sfusato amalfitano) and the "concerto" (produced in Tramonti) liqueur obtained from a mix of 15 spices including: licorice, fennel, cloves, nutmeg, edelweiss and mint; the anchovies and canned fish produced in Cetara, and the ceramics made and hand-painted in Vietri
